Adam Troy Hepworth has pleaded guilty to charges that he attempted to extort money from his Cedar City girlfriend by threatening to make public photographs depicting himself and the 17-year-old engaged in various sexual activities.

Hepworth, 27, Salt Lake City, entered the plea Monday in 5th District Court. In exchange for the plea to third-degree felony extortion, charges of forcible sexual abuse, sexual exploitation of a minor and attempted forcible sodomy were dismissed.Hepworth was arrested Sept. 27 after the minor, wearing a concealed listening device, exchanged $500 in marked bills for some of the photographs outside Hepworth's Cedar City residence.

Iron County Attorney Scott Burns said police also taped two phone calls between Hepworth and the minor in which he asked her to deliver the money and threatened to distribute the photos if she did not comply.
