Margaret Wickens, first woman to become a shareholder in a Utah CPA firm, has been named the recipient of the first Distinguished Alumnus Award of LDS Business College.
Wickens will be honored during the college's graduation rites at 7:30 p.m. June 8 in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square.She was selected because of her significant contributions to the field of business. She returned to college after rearing a family and graduated in 1976 with an associate degree in accounting.
She was hired by Tanner and Co. and became a shareholder in the company. She currently supervises the business department as well as working with clients.
Wickens is chairwoman of the Utah Securities Advisory Board, a member of the Board of the American Women's Society of CPAs and associated with several professional organizations.
She is a worthy role model for others in the field of accounting, said LDS Business College President Kenneth H. Beesley.
