One man was killed and two youths were seriously injured during two separate highway accidents Sunday.

A Moroni man died from injuries suffered in a rollover Sunday morning in Salt Creek Canyon near Nephi.Rosendo L. Zavala, 57, was driving on U-132 about seven miles east of Nephi when his vehicle drifted right and he overcorrected, sending the vehicle plunging down a 30-foot embankment. The accident occurred about 10:50 a.m., according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Zavala was taken to the Central Valley Medical Center, then transported by helicopter to the University Hospital.

Two Salt Lake County youths remained hospitalized with serious and critical injuries after an accident in Iron County. Ryan Christianson, 16, Sandy, was in critical condition in LDS Hospital Monday, and his passenger, James Rounds, 15, Salt Lake City, was in serious condition.

The accident occurred about 8:30 a.m. as the youths were driving on I-15 about 12 miles north of Parowan, Iron County. The driver lost control of the car momentarily, and the car drifted into the median and back across both northbound lanes of traffic before rolling three times. Both youths were ejected from the car.
