Brigham Young University emeritus professor Clark J. Gubler has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar Grant to lecture at a university in Oman during the 1989-90 school year.
Gubler, an Orem resident who taught at the University of Kuwait from 1982 to 1986, will teach biochemistry to medical students at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman. In addition, he will help establish a chemistry research program at the university.After 20 years on the BYU faculty, Gubler retired in 1978. Since then he has been involved in research at BYU and at the University of Utah. Gubler has published nearly 140 articles and edited three books. Most of his work has been on the topic of biochemistry and vitamin B-1.
Gubler earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from BYU and his master's degree in biochemistry from Utah State University. He earned a doctorate in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.
The Fulbright Scholar Program awards grants to individuals on the basis of academic and professional qualification, in addition to their ability and willingness to share ideas and experiences with people of diverse cultures.
