The U.S. Postal Service has announced the appointment of a new postmistress in Junction, Piute County, and selection of a site for a new post office in Redmond, Sevier County.

Jayne T. Bentley was named to succeed Gary Washburn at the Junction post office. Washburn worked temporarily as officer-in-charge until a permanent postmaster was selected.The site for the new post office in Redmond is at the southwest corner of Main Street and 100 West.

Postmistress Cathy Newby said the Postal Service will advertise for a private company to purchase the property and construct the facility. It is expected to be completed later this year. The Postal Service will lease the building.

The Junction postmistress has been with the Postal Service for 23 years, working as a part-time clerk in Parowan, Iron County. She will be assisted at the Junction office by Noreen Cahoon, a part-time clerk.
