A Layton man was killed Saturday night when the motorcycle he was driving failed to negotiate a curve on U-43 about three miles west of Manila.

Killed:Kenneth E. Pollett, 40, 516 Coates Ave., Layton.

A Utah Highway Patrol spokesman said Pollett was apparently traveling west on U-43 about 9:15 p.m. at a high rate of speed when his motorcycle left the road, throwing him from the machine. Pollett, who was not wearing a helmet, struck his head on a fence post. He was dead at the scene.
