Two men and a woman were arrested after two gunmen robbed and sodomized a man at one motel, and three people then robbed and assaulted another man at another motel.
Early Thursday morning, Salt Lake police responded to Motel 6, 176 W. 600 South, and discovered a man tied up with his arms behind his back and small amounts of blood throughout the room. The man told police he had befriended two men at a bar and they invited him to their motel room for a drink.He said the two men assaulted him and tied him up. One of the men then held a gun to his head, threatened to kill him and then sodomized him. The other man took $120 from the victim, a police report said.
The man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where it was discovered his jaw had been broken in two places, his cheekbone was broken and he had suffered several cracked teeth, according to the report.
About 40 minutes later, Salt Lake police responded to the Deseret Inn, 50 W. 500 South, where they discovered a man tied up with a lamp cord. He told police he had befriended a woman at a restaurant who told him she was down on her luck.
He offered to buy her a bus ticket the following day and offered to let her stay with him in the motel, where he would sleep on the floor, a police report said. A few minutes after he had fallen asleep, he awoke to hear the woman on the phone telling someone where she was.
Minutes later, two men entered the room. The men hit him in the face with a gun and tied him up while the woman phoned for a cab. The trio then took $125 from the victim and also took his shoes, his watch, a scarf and a jacket, according to a police report.
Another officer later located three people in a cab and pulled them over at 650 W. 200 South.
A 22-year-old transient was booked into jail for investigation of aggravated robbery and aggravated sexual assault and a 40-year-old Oregon woman was booked for investigation of aggravated robbery. Police reports indicated another man was also arrested, but no details were available.
