Three events will precede the next Utah Opera production, "Rigoletto," scheduled in the Capitol Theater Jan. 18-28.

The Utah Opera Guild will host a "Meet the Artists" luncheon on Friday, Jan. 12 at noon, with social hour at 11:30 a.m., in the Marriott Hotel in Salt Lake City. Artists will talk briefly about themselves and sing excerpts from the opera. The cost is $15 per person. The program will include excerpts from "Rigoletto" and insights about the production from guest conductor Lee Schaenen and stage director David Morelock. There is no charge for guild members, $3 for non-members.

"The Power of the Curse," a free Opera Insights program, will take place at the Capitol Theater on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m., with comments by Schaenen, Morelock and Susan Memmott Allred, showing and discussing the costumes. Glade Peterson will moderate.
