A series of six music cruises is being built around the itinerary of the cruise ship Vistafjord between January and April.
Professional musicians will be on board on each two- or three-week leg of the voyage to give concerts and recitals, and passengers are invited to take along their instruments to join the artists in chamber music programs.The Aeolian Chamber Players and the Los Angeles Ensemble (members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic) are scheduled to appear, as are the violinists Daniel Heifetz, Aaron Rosand and Eugene Fodor and the pianists Vladimir Feltsman and Lorin Hollander.
Singers include Shirley Love, mezzo soprano, and the sopranos Anna Moffo and Elinor Ross.
Cunard's Vistafjord begins its journey on Jan. 7 and visits the Caribbean, traverses the Panama Canal and calls at Mexican ports before reaching Los Angeles Jan. 23.
It leaves that day on a voyage to Sydney. The other parts of the itinerary start from Sydney (Feb. 14), Hong Kong (March 1), Mombasa (March 24) and Rio de Janeiro (April 10).
Fares start at $3,080 a person, double occupancy, on the first leg from New York.
The top price, with best outside cabin, is $14,130 a person during the trip from Hong Kong to Mombasa via Singapore, Bombay and other ports. All fares include round-trip air fare.
