Services will be at noon Wednesday, Jan. 10, for LeRoy S. Axland, 48, a Salt Lake attorney and Masonic and civic affairs leader, who died Jan. 7, 1990, at his home following recent heart surgery.

The rites will be in the Masonic Temple, 650 E. South Temple, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon.Mr. Axland was a founder, vice president and director of the law firm of Suitter Axland Armstrong & Hanson, where he was director of litigation.

He had been a member of the Utah State Bar since 1965 and was admitted to practice before the 9th and 10th Circuit Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court. In the early 1980s he was president of the Salt Lake County Bar Association and was chairman of numerous State Bar committees.

Mr. Axland served as worshipful master of Progress Lodge No. 22, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and worshipful grand master of Utah. Last October he was appointed deputy of the Supreme Council for Utah. He had been a trustee and president of the Salt Lake Masonic Temple Association and was trustee and vice chairman of the Masonic Foundation of Utah.

In 1977 he was invested with the rank and decoration of knight commander of the Court of Honor; was coroneted a 33rd-degree inspector general honorary in 1983.
