Two Salt Lake fire captains have been promoted to battalion chiefs.
Stephen Higgs and J.D. Roberts were promoted by Fire Chief Dennis M. Sargent during ceremonies in the chief's office. Higgs will head the training division, and Roberts will command Battalion 2."We have a constant need to keep our department trained on ever-increasing changes in technology and procedures in firefighting and emergency medical practices," Higgs said. "I am ready to meet that challenge."
Roberts said, "The rapid and efficient response to fire and medical calls is our No. 1 charge. I assure you we will meet that duty."
