A Kearns woman was injured in a three-car accident in West Valley City that was caused when an apparently drunken driver made an illegal left turn in front of her car at 4700 South and 3200 West.
According to Salt Lake County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Richards, the 27-year-old Kearns man was westbound on 4700 South when he hit a northbound car on 3200 West, driven by a 19-year-old Kearns woman, shortly after 10 p.m.The man then careened around the corner into the parking lot of a 7-11 convenience store, hitting an unoccupied parked car. The impact of that crash set the man's car on fire for a short time, Richards said.
The victim, who was cut on her head and body by flying glass and who may have suffered a broken arm, was taken to Pioneer Valley Hospital for treatment.
Richards said charges for drunken driving and making a faulty left turn are pending against the man, who was not injured.
