Remembering the shuttle Lorna Onizuka, wife of astronaut Ellison Onizuka who perished in the Jan. 24, 1986, Challenger explosion, shares a moment with Col. Gary Payton during dedication ceremonies in Los Angeles honoring the Challenger crew. A replica of the shuttle was unveiled in the Little Tokyo area. In the latest development in the shuttle program, Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine reports in its Oct. 22 edition that the crew of the shuttle Atlantis will launch a 22,000-pound photo-reconnaissance satellite next month to help spy on the Persian Gulf.
