It has been said that New England is a state of mind. Come see for yourself when the University Travel Club presents its second film of the current series, "The Spirit of New England," in Kingsbury Hall Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 8 p.m.

On hand for live narration will be the film's writer, photographer and producer, Willis Butler, a veteran travelog lecturer.New England is generally recognized as that geographic region consisting of six states: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Willis Butler has focused on the different personalities of each of these states and on some of their major points of interest for the traveler. You will meet the people of New England, discover why they are proud to be Yankees, and understand more clearly "the spirit of New England."

Butler's film ranges from the tranquil forests and lakes of Maine in the north to the more urban areas of Connecticut in the south - and from the historic seacoast of Massachusetts in the east to the shores of Vermont's Lake Champlain in the west.

Willis Butler traces the historic beginnings with the pilgrims at Plymouth Rock through the great contributions New Englanders have given our country in literary, spiritual, commercial, scientific and cultural matters.

Here is beauty, tranquility, and the independent thought and resourcefulness of America at its best.
