Five handicapped individuals, a special-education teacher and a business were recently recognized for their achievements or service.

The Utah Federation of the Council for Exceptional Children named Sizzler Corp. as the business organization of the year, while Kathleen Boyer, resource teacher at Hillcrest Junior High, Murray, was honored for teaching excellence.Special service awards were given to Valerie Kelson, a member of the Utah Board of Education, and Sen. Lorin Pace, R-Salt Lake.

The handicapped winners and achievements are: Dale Blowers, Salt Lake City, who participates in track, field, skiing and the Special Olympics; David Furse, Layton, who is an honor roll student in Davis County; Jon Westling, West Jordan, who lives in his own apartment and works at South Valley School; Cindy Jehue, Salt Lake City, who has worked at Red Lion Inn for three years and cares for a 6-year-old daughter by herself; and Joshua Bennett, Bountiful, a third-grader who is an equestrian.
