National Red Ribbon Week throug Oct. 28 is aimed at promoting awareness of the national fight against drug abuse.

Citizens are asked to display red ribbons on their car antennas, around trees and in other prominent places. The red ribbon is a symbol of America's battle against drugs.During the week, local schools will have activities focused on preventing drug abuse.

The National Red Ribbon Campaign was launched in 1985 in response to the murder of federal agent Enrique Camarena by drug traffickers.
