Is a name change for the Utah Economic Development Corp. - an entity of public and private officials formed more than two years ago to attract and retain businesses in Utah - already here?
Kenneth Y. Knight, vice chairman of the board of Sinclair Oil and chairman of the UEDC board, said a name change will be discussed during the board's next meeting Nov. 14.He said the executive committee of the Utah Business and Economic Development Board met and expressed concern there is confusion over each organization's place in Utah economic development because of the similarity of the names. The suggested name change for UEDC was Economic Development Corp. of Utah.
Knight said he presented the idea to his executive committee and it will be discussed by his board Nov. 14.
At the last Utah Business and Economic Development board meeting, members voted to send UEDC a letter thanking its officials for being willing to consider the name change.
