The Southern Utah Multicultural Center will focus on the Middle East Nov. 5-9 during International Week.
Events include:- Monday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Zion Conference Room of the Student Center, Robert Staab will present a lecture on "A Geographical Understanding of the Middle East."
- A video presentation, "Search for Solid Ground: Intifadah Through Israeli Eyes," will be shown in the Zion Conference Room at noon on Nov. 6. That evening, at 7 p.m., Ibrahim Karawan will present a lecture titled "The Conflict in the Gulf: A Contemporary Perspective," also in the Zion Conference Room.
- Nov. 7 activities will also be in the same location, with a video, "Days of Rage," at noon. At 7 p.m., Col. Uri Dromi and Salam Noor will debate the topic, "The Palestinian/Israeli Question of Cultural and Historical Perspective." The moderator for the debate will be Dr. Lee Bean.
- The International Week Lecture will take place on Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. in the SUSC Auditorium. Robin Wright, author and senior State Department reporter for the Los Angeles Times, will speak on "Conflict, Religion and Politics in the Middle East," followed by a lunch discussion at 12:30 p.m. in the Bryce Canyon Conference Room of the Student Center. "Lives of Women in the Middle East," will be presented by Donna Lee Bowen at 7 p.m. that evening in the Zion Conference Room.
- Nov. 9 at noon in the Zion Conference Room, a video on "Arab and Jew: Wounded Spirits in the Promised Land," will be shown.
