On October 20, 1990 the great symphony of mortal life faded away for one Clarence H. Stanley. In his own last personal finale he heard the call of his name and answered "Yes, my Lord", reaching out to greet the Great Mystery.
Born to Ruben and Meda Holst Stanley, October 23, 1918 in Nephi, Utah, he was the eighteenth of nineteen children. Married Hazel Upchurch Watters in 1940.Survived by his wife and five children, Kathy (Carl) Leon, West Valley City; Larry (Janet) Stanley, Park City; Michael (Keri) Stanley, Salt Lake City; Thomas Stanley, Salt Lake City; Sandra (Bret) Jordan, Cottonwood; sister, Mrs. Marie White, Salt Lake City; a very special niece, Cari Jividen, Denver, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. He has a numerous extended family to whom he will be remembered as a father figure. The Dang Van Vu and Bao Van Vu families have been of great solace and comfort.
Stan, my beloved, the earthly song has faded, but your loved ones will remember that you were "a breath of God, which God will keep on breathing; a syllable in the Word of God, which God will go on pronouncing; an image and likeness to God, which God will go on producing; a very specific manifestation of God's Glory, which God will keep on showing; a creature of God, whom God must keep on creating".
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 24, 1990 at 3 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 3580 West 3650 South where family and friends may call one hour prior to services. Committal: Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South. Funeral Directors: Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary.
