Clifford Hartley, 87, died Sunday, October 21, 1990 in a St. George nursing home.

Born May 18, 1903 in Morecabe, England to Thomas William and Jane McFarland Downham Hartley. Married Mary Wilkinson, February 16, 1927 in Morecabe, England. Marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, August, 1949. He attended schools in England and served in the British Army for 12 years before coming to the United States in 1949. Lived in Salt Lake, Southern California and then St. George, Utah. Active member of the LDS Church. Served in many positions. Lifetime member of the Genealogical Society.Survived by wife, St. George; four sons, nine daughters, Mrs. Charles R. (Catherine) Mabey, West Valley City; Mrs. Arnold (Joan) Lund, Bountiful; Mrs. Fred (Marion) Quilter, Centerville, Utah; Gordon B. Hartley, Springville; Mrs. Jerry (Doris) Malm, Clearfield, Utah; Melvin Hartley, Lyman, Wyoming; Mrs. Lawrence (Muriel) Powers, Clearfield; Michael W. Hartley, Bisbee, Arizona; Philip T. Hartley and Mrs. Rex N. (Carolyn) Winterton, both of Washington, Utah; Mrs. George M. (Ruth) Robbins, Santa Clara, Utah; Mrs. Richard M. (Dorothy) Dobson, St. George; 67 grandchildren, 95 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 24, 1990 at 1 p.m. at the Dixie Downs First Ward Chapel, 1240 Dixie Downs Rd. Interment: St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
