Geneva Steel Co. officials are distributing $9 million in profit-sharing checks averaging $3,000 to the majority of its employees who have worked for the company for more than 720 hours.

Spokeswoman Mary Kay Lazarus said employees who want can get up to $400 of their profit-sharing check in $2 bills, a tradition started last year when the company noted the second anniversary since the company reopened.Many merchants in the area are holding $2 promotions and a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck from Rick Warner Chevrolet will be given away via a drawing.
