Attorney Ron Yengich, left, and writer Jerry Johnston make their way down the field during Monday night's annual Celebrity Flag Football game at Highland High School in Salt Lake City. The literal "kickoff" to Red Ribbon Week was billed as "Monday Night Football as you've never seen it before," and indeed it was. With BYU coach LaVell Edwards heading up the "Freddie Krugers" and University of Utah coach Ron McBride directing the "Raving Brutes," the talent was all on the sidelines. Highlights included County Commissioner Mike Stewart actually taking a position far left of center and Olympic runner Henry Marsh going out for a long pass - on every play of the game. Judge Raymond Uno was over-turned a good dozen times. Bill Marcroft of KUTV called the play-by-play - or better, the "fray-by-fray." The final score was 0-0. Parachutists opened the ceremonies by jumping onto the field. But after the jumpers' and commissioner's rendition of the National Anthem, it was all downhill. Red Ribbon Week for a drug-free environment continues through Oct. 29. This year the bandwagon is filling up with more participants than ever as schoolchildren across the state are tying red ribbons across the fronts of their school buildings.
