Gov. Norm Bangerter endorsed fellow Republican Genevieve Atwood Tuesday for the District 2 seat in Congress, calling her "an outstanding candidate who is well-qualified to serve in the United States Congress."
Bangerter said that while he likes her opponent, Rep. Wayne Owens, the two-term Democrat's voting record doesn't represent the mostly Republican 2nd District."It's a question of whether you're going to vote for a Republican or whether you're going to vote for a Democrat who sides with the liberal Eastern establishment," Bangerter said.
Atwood said during the press conference in the governor's office that she represents "mainstream Utah" by being conservative on budget matters and taking a mainstream position on social and environmental issues.
