A Helper man whose wife died shortly after ingesting cocaine at a police roadblock pleaded guilty Friday in 4th District Court to possession of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony, and giving false information to a police officer, a class C misdemeanor.
Charges of negligent homicide and possession of drug paraphernalia against Richard E. Wilson, 38, 32 S. 200 East, were dropped.Wilson, his wife Michelle Daniels Wilson, 26, and Russell L. Jensen were stopped at a roadblock on April 6 and police officers found cocaine in their car. Wilson's wife went into convulsions at the scene and died a short time later at a local hospital. An autopsy revealed she died from ingesting a large amount of cocaine.
4th District Judge Cullen Y. Christensen set sentencing for Nov. 30.
