Auditions will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, for 80 children needed for "The Monkey King," a full-length ballet by John Mead, which will open the season for the Utah Ballet this year.
"The Monkey King" is a repeat of a successful production danced by the company in 1986. Performances will be in the Hayes/Christensen Theatre of the Marriott Center for Dance on the University of Utah campus on Nov. 29 and 30 and Dec. 1, 6, 7 and 8.Those auditioning should be at least 9 years old, have at least one year of ballet training and be between 4 feet and 5 feet 6 inches tall.
Saturday's auditions will be held from 1-5 p.m. in the Marriott Center, with registration outside Studio 60 at the following times: at noon for children 4 feet to 4 feet 5 inches tall; at 1 p.m. for those 4 feet 5 inches to 4 feet 7 inches; 2 p.m. for those 4 feet 7 inches to 5 feet; and 3 p.m. for those 5 feet to 5 feet 6 inches.
