A man who shot himself in the chest while cleaning a .22-caliber semiautomatic pistol, died Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred about 5 p.m. at 2285 Sorento. Edwin Nelson, 79, was apparently cleaning his gun in the basement of his home when he accidently pulled the trigger, shooting himself once in the chest, said Woods Cross Police Chief Paul Howard.The victim's wife called police after she heard the shot and discovered her husband dead, Howard said.
Police will continue to investigate the incident, he said.
