A Utah federal judge sentenced an Ogden man Monday to four years in prison on the defendant's guilty plea to charges of distribution of crack cocaine obtained from a Los Angeles street gang.
Judge Bruce Jenkins sentenced Derryl Lamont "Scooby" Jackson, 28, to four years on each of three drug distribution counts. But Jenkins said the sentences will be served concurrently. In exchange for Jackson's guilty plea, federal prosecutors dismissed a related firearms charge, which carried a minimum mandatory five-year prison term.
Investigators had claimed Jackson obtained crack cocaine from a member of the Los Angeles-based Crips gang and had been selling the drugs near an Ogden youth center.
