Joseph Paul White, age 83, beloved and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, died Tuesday, October 23, 1990, at his home.
Born January 25, 1907 to Joseph Alfred and Lovina Van Cott White, at their pioneer home in Salt Lake City. He married his childhood sweetheart, Luella M. Luck, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 26, 1928. In his early years he worked for: Denver Rio-Grande RR, Daynes-Beebe Music, the U.S. Engineers, Utah Sand and Gravel, Sears Roebuck, Gibbons and Reed Construction, Earl Zarbuck and Wasatch Plumbing. A charter member of the "Happy Square Dance Group"; member of Maltaire Bowling League; and an avid hunter, fisherman and gardner (his flowers and vegetables were his pride), who loved to travel. Active High Priest in the LDS Church, he served faithfully throughout his life, including a mission with his wife in the Missouri-St. Louis Mission. A kind, gentle man who welcomed all who came to their home.Survived by his wife, Luella; two daughters, Beverly (and Albert) Cook, Terry (and Garth) Peterson, all from Salt Lake City; a son, Larry V. (and Patricia), Las Vegas, Nevada; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Hugo V. (and Thelma) and H. Victor, both Palmdale, California. Preceded in death by two sons, Richard Paul and Monte Neil; two grandsons, Larry White, Jr. and Lance Cook; and a sister-in-law, Doris.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 27th, 11 a.m. at the Kenwood Second Ward, 1765 East 3080 South, with Bishop Jack Brown officiating. Friends may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 So. 2300 East, and at the church on Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
