A Washington state man was arrested Wednesday morning by FBI agents and Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputies on charges of robbing a bank Oct. 16 in Portland, Ore.

Fred Gordon Jr., 43, of Tacoma, Wash., was arrested by deputy sheriffs and special FBI agents during a routine traffic stop while he was traveling northbound on I-15 at the 3300 South exit.According to FBI Agent Keith L. Bennett, Salt Lake County deputy sheriffs "identified some items in the vehicle that indicated evidence of a bank robbery." The sheriff's office then checked with the FBI, which made a connection with the Oregon robbery.

Gordon was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on bank robbery charges. He was to appear before U.S. Magistrate Ronald N. Boyce Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
