Jazz columns rise on S.L. skyline Construction on the Salt Lake arena for the Utah Jazz is about two weeks ahead of schedule, according to officials. Mounted astride a support column for one of seven levels, these and other workmen are pushing to get as much of the construction as possible completed before winter begins. Contractors at this point are not anticipating any major problems, but they'll be even more optimistic if a lot more of the work can be finished by late November. The construction now in progress includes work to pour flat concrete levels for the third and fourth levels of the arena. Although the third level will be completed sometime next week, work on the fourth level has already started, said Dave Allred, Utah Jazz vice president for public relations. Sahara Construction, Bountiful, and Ohbayashi Construction, Tokyo, are the major contractors for the $66 million project, scheduled for completion in early October 1991.
