Ethel Olga Akert Neff Smith Midgley, age 92, passed away October 28, 1990 in Centerville, Utah.

Born November 30, 1897 in Salt Lake City to John Henry and Caroline Steiner Kunz Akert. Married Edwin Woodruff Smith on October 2, 1918 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death November 7, 1960. Married Thomas Cordon Midgely November 22, 1963. He preceded her in death November 28, 1985.She had a beautiful artistic talent with watercolors and oils. She raised a large family, loved flowers, active in the Granite PTA serving as president for a time. Served in the LDS Sunday School and Relief Society. Helped initiate school lunches. Helped in the "Name Extraction Program" development for the LDS Church. Raised her family in Holladay on 13th East. In her second marriage, she moved to Washington, Utah for 22 years them moved to Centerville where her family could care for her. An active, energetic, "always on the go" type of person.

Survived by seven children and spouses, son-in-law, Royal Stoddart of Salt Lake City; daughter, Mary Grace and Dan Wade of Washington, Utah; sons, E. Lloyd and Kaye Smith, Holladay; Raymond and Jean Smith, Washington State; John and Faye Smith, Bountiful; Robert K. and Carol Smith, Centerville; Albert M. and Norine, Holladay; David W. and Alene Smith, Washington, Utah; two stepchildren, Keith and Elaine Midgley, Cheny, Washington; Betty and Richard Elsworth, Provo, Utah; 44 grandchildren; more than 100 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian Stoddart; son, Stanley Smith.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2, at 11 a.m. at the Winder 3rd Ward, 1250 East 4530 South. Friends may call Thursday evening, 6-8 p.m. at MacKay Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, and Friday one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens.
