Salt Lake County will pay another $25,100 to insure the Salt Palace, officials said.

By paying the money to Reliance Insurance Co., the county will be providing $5 million in protection against claims filed against the facility. Spectacor, the private company that recently signed a contract to run the Salt Palace, will provide additional insurance up to $25 million, said Assistant County Attorney Bill Hyde. The county asked insurance companies to submit bids for the county's portion of insurance. Reliance was the only company to submit a bid, Hyde said.

County commissioners approved the payment Monday.
