Southern Utah begins a three-game homestand today, playing host to Sacramento State at 7 p.m. in the Coliseum of Southern Utah.
The Thunderbirds are coming off a big 24-20 road win over Santa Clara in their first conference contest of the year. Sacramento State opened the league season with a 41-24 loss at Portland State last week and stands 2-3 on the year. But SU Coach Jack Bishop isn't feeling too comfortable about playing the Hornets.
"The reason Sacramento is not impressive in stats is because of their schedule," he said. "Sacramento and Southern Utah probably have the toughest schedules in the conference and Sacramento's is the toughest to date."
Two of the Hornets' losses came to Pacific of Div. I-A and to Nevada-Reno of Div. I-AA. Their offense is led by running back Troy Mills, who averages 84.8 yards per game rushing, third best in the WFC.
