There will be lots going on in addition to action on the ice for the 41 home hockey games of the Salt Lake Golden Eagles at the Salt Palace this coming season.
On opening night, to the first 1,000 fans coming through the doors, will go a free pair of sunglasses courtesy of Knighton Optical.That will be followed by Calendar Poster Night on Friday sponsored by KXIV-TV and KBER radio. The following night, Saturday, will be the Golden Eagles Bumper Sticker Night.
Also, Hardee's is sponsoring Magnetic Calendar Night on Oct. 26, a night the Eagles play a new IHL team - the San Diego Gulls. On Oct. 27, WKRP will feature Window Sticker Night. KOOL Radio Night caps off the month on Oct. 31.
The U.S. Forest Service will sponsor Hockey Puck Giveaway Night on Nov. 2. The annual Smith's Turkey Shoot will be held on the ice right after the Nov. 9 game with Phoenix.
In December, Brickyard Plaza will sponsor Pennant Night - Dec. 1. The Big Nickel Newspaper will give away ice scrappers at the Dec. 4 game. And, on Dec. 22, it will be V-Crew Kid's Night sponsored by 49th Street Galleria and Channel 14.
The annual KRSP Bikini Night is set for Feb. 8. Love-99 Radio will sponsor Valentine's Night on Feb. 14. And, April 5 will be Smith's Fan Appreciation Night.
And there will be plenty of things going on during Golden Eagles games this season. Hardees and KMGR are sponsoring a "Fantasy Booth," while Polaroid will be looking for a "Hidden Fan" in an ongoing promotion.
Red Wing Shoes will toss out frisbees at intermission; Hi-Grade Meats will be giving out free hot dogs to a row of fans each game; and the Fisher Nut Company will be looking for "Hockey Nuts" with the Fan of the Month promotion.
