Oscar LeRoy Orton, age 51, died December 8, 1990 in West Valley City, Utah.

Roy was born January 20, 1939 in Parowan, Utah, a son of Oscar Taylor and Mary Ann Stapley Orton. Married Kathleen Barton March 30, 1957 in the St. George LDS Temple. Soon after their marriage they moved to Salt Lake City.Roy was employed by Associated Food Stores for 26 years as a salesman. Since 1963 Roy has been actively involved with youth programs. During the time he spent as Scoutmaster and Explorer leader, 25 boys received their rank as Eagle Scout. He also had two sons in the program. He has always made the time to go with and train his scouts. Scouting has always been a top priority in Roy's life. He has been very active for several years in district positions even while serving his boys. Roy's troop has earned the Year-round Camping award four years in succession.

Roy has been served with many scouting awards and is a trained scouter. He has served in his church in the bishopbric and High Council and many other positions of responsibility. Roy's most prized honor came February 23, 1989 when he received the Boy Scout's of America Silver Beaver Award. Roy loved his family very much and was the world's greatest father and dad. He will be missed by thousands because his manner of life so positively effected thousands.

Survived by his wife, West Valley City; two sons and two daughters, Lawana and Lorrin Sisam, West Jordan; Vincent LeRoy, Sugar House; Teresa and Dale Smith, Holladay; Troy K., West Valley City; 13 grandchildren; four brothers, Leonard and Ralph, both of Parowan; Keith and Al Ray, both of Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m. at the Granger 25th Ward, 3100 South 2100 West. Friends may call Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at the McDougal Golden Rule Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Thursday at the church one hour prior to services. The family would like to extend an invitation to scouts who would like to wear their full scout uniform to the funeral services.
