Everett B. Muir, noted opthalmologist, died Decmeber 10, 1990, in a local nursing care center.

Born December 1, 1898 in Eureka, Nova Scotia, Canada, son of Sylvanus and Jeanette Barclay Muir. He received his medical degree from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Married Jean Theresa Lusetti, August 8, 1931.Resident physician at Nova Scotia Sanatorium Kentville. Come to U.S. in 1926, naturalized 1932. Practiced medicine at Steptoe Valley Hospital, Ely, Nevada. Post graduate study, University of Pennsylvania. Resident in opthalmology, Cincinnati General Hospital. Practiced opthalmology in Salt Lake City for 44 years. Former Chief of Staff at St. Marks Hospital. Lecturer in surgery opthalmology, University of Utah Medical School since 1946. Served as Lt. Col. M.C.A.U.S. 1942-45. Member of A.M.A., Utah State Medical Association. Scottish Rite Mason, member of Acacia Lodge #17 F.& A.M., Salt Lake City and member of ElKalah Temple of the Shrine.

Survived by wife, Jean L.; son, John Barclay, Salt Lake City; daughter, Natalie Jean, San Diego, California; two grandchildren, Patrick and Tracy and one great-grandchild; sisters, Elsie C. Muir and Della Cameron, both of Eureka, Canada; brother, Dr. R. Keith Muir, Toronto, Canada.

Funeral Services Friday, December 14, 12 noon, at Cathedral Church of St. Marks. Masonic Interment Service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends wishing may make contributions to Shriners Hospital or Primary Childrens Medical Center. Funeral Directors: Evans & Early.
