There'll be no more shooting hoops on the streets of West Point.
The City Council has voted to remove as many as six basketball standards located on public streets because of liability concerns.Residents have installed the standards, mostly on cul-de-sacs and streets with little traffic, so their children can play close to home.
But in October city officials authorized Mayor Howard Stoddard to send a letter to the residents telling them to tear the standards down.

Some residents protested that decision, but the council has upheld it. If the standards are not taken down, the city will tear them down and bill the residents, the council ruled.
