A Croydon woman has been ordered to stand trial on an attempted murder charge in the shooting of her fiance.

Debbie B. Becker, 32, appeared in 2nd Circuit Court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing. Judge S. Mark Johnson found enough evidence to bind Becker over for trial. The defendant is scheduled to enter a plea Jan. 21 in 2nd District Court. The 29-year-old victim, Douglas Carlin, remains in the McKay-Dee Hospital in improved condition with a head wound.

Morgan County sheriff's deputies reported that Becker was taken into custody after Carlin was found shot in the couple's Croydon home on Sept. 2. Carlin was shot once in the forehead with a .22 caliber revolver, deputies said.
