An Escondido, Calif., woman was killed Thursday morning when her car hit a slick spot on the road and rolled into the median about 20 miles west of Green River.

Gerda Marie Reed, 60, was traveling east on I-70 at the time and was not wearing a seat belt, said Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Gary Whitney. The accident was reported at 9:04 a.m.Next to accidents involving excessive speed or alcohol, more people die on Utah highways in one-car rollovers where the driver is fatigued or falls asleep than in any other kind of vehicle mishap. Most of the rollover deaths occur in accidents where seat belts were not used, Whitney said.
