Smith's Food and Drug on Thursday increased to $100,000 the reward the Salt Lake-based chain is offering in a turkey-poisoning scare in Tucson.
The Salt Lake-based company initially offered $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction, and Smith's Chairman Jeff Smith said he hoped the larger reward would produce results. The night before Thanksgiving, a man telephoned a Tucson television station and said he had injected cyanide in some turkeys sold by Smith's in Tucson.
As a result, Smith's removed the remaining turkeys from its Tucson stores and exchanged thousands it had sold earlier.
