Young chess players pitted their skills against one another recently in the annual Rowland Hall-St. Mark's scholastic chess tournament.

In four rounds of play, the following teams and individuals were top scorers:High school: Top team, Box Elder; second, West Jordan; top individual, Carson Platerio, Box Elder; second, Richard Schow, Box Elder; top E Class, Rick Renzetti, Granite Park; top unrated, Ty Gideon, West Jordan.

Junior high: Top team, Thomas Jefferson; second team, Evergreen; top individual, Matt Wood, Thomas Jefferson; second individual, Shanti Sheppard, Rowland Hall-St. Mark's; top E Class, Aaron Deskins, Thomas Jefferson; top unrated, David Hutchinson, Dixon.
