Many people enjoy the new Deseret News 1991-1992 Church Almanac because it is fun to browse through.

One section that is easy to enjoy at a glance is the chronology of historic events. This 29-page section begins with the birth of Joseph Smith in 1805. Listing only the major events each year, the chronology tracks the development of the restoration through the Kirtland and Nauvoo periods, and to the martyrdom. Then comes the trek west and colonization, and the refining and expansion of the Church following the turn of the century. The almanac also contains short biographies of all General Authorities of this dispensation, a listing of stakes and missions in order of their creation, thumbnail histories of the Church in more than 100 countries, membership statistics, and profiles of all the Church's temples.
