Iva Melissa Green Manwill of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away December 28, 1990 of a heart attack.
Born February 26, 1904 in Abraham, Millard County, Utah, a daughter of Ada Lenora Cutler and Amasa Lyman Green. Raised in Mona, Juab County, Utah. Married to Vearl James Manwill on July 16, 1924 in the Logan LDS Temple. Educated in Nephi, Utah and attended Brigham Young University. She was a lifelong active member of the LDS Church and served numerous positions in the Church during her life including Primary President, Stake Board President of the Primary Association, Secretary for the Sunday School, and Relief Society President in the Central Park Ward. Served as leader of the Special Interest Group in the Parleys 6th Ward for many years. Member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers County Board, President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Utah Plumbing and Heating Association, Was an active member of the Salt Lake Apartment House Association, Charter member of the South Salt Lake Ladies Lions Club and an Officer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Salt Lake Chapter of the Ladies of the Moose. She was an active member of the PTA and was responsible for establishing the first school lunch programin Granite District.She and her husband, Vearl founded the Manwill Plumbing Company and she assisted him in the business for many years. She was a world traveler and in her later life became a tour director for Comtinental Trailways Tours.
She is survived by five children; Mrs. Gordon R. (Carma) Coulam, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Robert M. (Bonnie) Summers, Soda Springs, Idaho; James Vearl Manwill (Lorina), Salt Lake City; Mrs. Robert J (Luana) Pearson, Los Altos, Calif.; Paul Eugene Manwill (Connie), Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard R. Green, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, January 3, 1991, 11:00 A.M. in the Parleys 6th Ward Chapel, 2350 South 2100 East. Friends may call at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South Wednesday 6 - 8 P.M. and Thursday one hour prior to services at the Ward. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
