Hugh Francis Steele, age 65, died March 12, 1990, in Salt Lake City.

Born August 30, 1924, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Colin F. and Anne Steele. He was raised in Carmel, Brewster area of New York. Married Betty Jean Winther, May 26, 1946. She died December 15, 1988. He was a veteran of World War II. Retired from Tooele Army Depot in 1979. He served as chairman of the credit committee at the Tooele Federal Credit Union. He and his wife previously owned and operated the Dairy Delight in Tooele. Member Catholic Church. Enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest love was his wife and family.Survived by a brother, Robert Steele, Brewster, New York; sons, John Robert, Peter Michael, Jeffrey Scott; daughters, Sandra Jean Yancey, Patricia Denise Landgrebe, all of Tooele; Janine Ann Goble, West Valley City; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebated Thursday, March 15, 10 a.m., at St. Marguerites Catholic Church in Tooele, where friends may call Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., with Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Burial Tooele City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Tate Mortuary of Tooele.
