When Weber High School took its first crack at the fledgling Sterling Scholar program in 1963, Marilyn Larson was a finalist in English and James H. Huefner was a finalist in mathematics. In due time, Miss Larson became Mrs. Huefnerand the couple started raising little Sterling Scholars of their own. Daughter Hillary, was a 1989 finalist in English. "We got out our portfolios and laughed at the comparison," said Mrs. Huefner. "Mine was just a few things in a folder."
