Utah's Hogle Zoo is looking for "docents" 17 years old and older to spend time at the zoo as volunteers. An open house for those interested will be held Saturday, March 31, from 10 a.m. to noon in the auditorium on the zoo grounds, located inside the main gate.

Docents are volunteer teachers and ambassadors to the public, who are trained in zoo wildlife, teaching techniques, zoo history and theory and animal handling. After completing a training program, docents will volunteer at least one afternoon or morning every other week in Discovery Land, the zoo's "hands-on" area. They will be handling animals such as parrots, tortoises, ferrets, opossums, lizards and explaining exhibits to zoo visitors.
