Bonneville Pacific Corp. has entered an agreement to build, own and operate a power plant to serve San Diego Gas & Electric Co.
Under the 30-year agreement, the project will be located in Yuma, Ariz., and the power will be transmitted to San Diego. The natural gas supply will come from reserves held by Bonneville Fuels Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bonneville Pacific Corp."This project represents a significant milestone in the development of independent power in the Southwest," said Robert L. Wood, chairman and CEO of Bonneville Pacific. "We see substantial benefits to the residents of San Diego by the addition of this competively priced power as well as year-round employment of 70 to 80 people in the Yuma area."
Bonneville Pacific has completed 28 projects totalling 186 megawatts of generation since 1980. Over 700 megawatts of additional power are under development or are under construction by Bonneville. The Yuma project is scheduled to come on line in January 1993.
