A man charged with killing his girlfriend last December has been ordered to appear in 3rd District Court to answer a charge of second-degree murder.

Gary Rosendahl, 31, is accused of shooting Leslie Robinson, 26, whose nude body was found in the snow atop East Canyon near Big Mountain on Dec. 15.Following a hearing this week, 3rd Circuit Judge Robin Reese ruled there was sufficient probable cause for the charge and ordered Rosendahl to be arraigned before 3rd District Judge Michael R. Murphy on April 2.

Rosendahl also was charged with forging a $4,800 inheritance check belonging to Robinson, but Reese dismissed the charge this week.

Robinson, who had been shot in the head with a .22-caliber gun, remained unidentified until early February, when the Salt Lake County sheriff's office received a tip by telephone.

Detectives then were led to Rosendahl, who was arrested after being questioned.

Rosendahl denied ever owning a .22-caliber pistol, but police found he had purchased a pistol Dec. 11 at a Salt Lake gun shop, according to the charges.

Immediately following Robinson's death, witnesses saw a white Cadillac or Chrysler speeding away. Detectives discovered that Rosendahl worked at a local car rental company and had been driving a white Cadillac in December, according to the charges.

Originally of LaCrosse, Wis., Rosendahl and Robinson moved to the Salt Lake area about 20 months ago and were living in West Valley City. Shortly after Robinson's death, Rosendahl moved to a Salt Lake City address.
