'David Oldham's bowling and Winslow Johnson's basketball-shooting skills were among the many Brigham Young University students' abilities tested during Handicapable Week at the school as 400 faculty members and students volunteered to spend a "handicapped" day, allowing them to better appreciate the accomplishments of people who can't remove their blindfolds or return their borrowed wheelchairs at the end of the week. Oldham, a junior, had to listen for the beeping noise coming from near the bowling pins; Johnson, a freshman, used his ears to take aim during the beep-basketball game. Other students tried to participate in class while they were "deaf," and some showed up late because they took alternate routes to accommodate wheelchairs.
