Erma Nielsen Hills, 70, of Salt Lake City, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, died March 22, 1990 in Salt Lake City.
She was born December 26, 1919 in Manti, Utah to William and Anna Leona Madsen Nielsen. She married Norman P. Hill on August 19, 1944 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple.
She spent her early years and was educated in Manti and also attended Snow College. She had lived in Salt Lake City, Panguitch, Utah, Greenbelt, Maryland for 23 years and returned to Salt Lake City in 1979. She worked as an editorial assistant for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service for 23 years. She was an active member of the LDS Church. She was an accomplished pianist and organist. She willingly and faithfully served her church and others with her talents.
She is survived by her husband, Norman, Salt Lake City; a son, Stephen N. Hill, Sandy; three grandchildren, Sherwood, Eileen and Heidi Hill, all of Sandy; a sister, Lorna Nielsen and a brother, Harold Dale (Janice) Nielsen, both of Salt Lake City; she was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Anna Lynn and Norma Hill, and a brother, Melvin Nielsen.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 26, 1990 at 11 a.m. at the Olympus 3rd Ward, 4100 Camille Drive (2485 East). Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Mackay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive and Monday morning at the church one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
